| Dominican Republic gets plane for its first “green airport”
Sunday, August 08, 2010 10:55:54 Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) and the Airports Department today presented one of four airplanes to be used in the country’s first “green airport” and a research center, which will operate with alternative energy equipment.

Old passports are no longer renewable
Saturday, August 07, 2010 12:54:39 The director general of the Passport Office is reminding the public that the old version of the passports will no longer be renewed. The country is a signatory to an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) agreement that now requires all passports to be electronically scanned. Flavia Garcia said that through her letter (DGP/005/10) no more renewals would be issued for the old version of the passport. Garcia told El Nuevo Diario that the older version of the passports are not machine readable and the owners will have to obtain the newer version which complies with the ICAO agreement and its biometric requirements.

Zero crime in Dominican tourist zones
